JobRizzer
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-07-23
TL;DR
- Your resume is parsed on your device, and your resume, profile, and settings are stored locally in your browser.
- The extension is free for your first batch of applications. You can optionally create an account (with your email) or upgrade to Pro.
- Some features use AI. When you use one, only the text that feature needs is sent through our service to an AI provider to generate the result — never your whole resume on every action.
- We don't sell your data, show ads, profile you, train AI models on your data, or auto-submit applications.
- Our public website uses privacy-conscious analytics to understand visits and Chrome Store clicks. We do not use this to collect resume or job-application content.
- You can delete everything stored locally at any time, and email us to delete your account.
1. Who we are
"JobRizzer" is a Chrome extension that helps you fill out job applications using your profile and AI assistance. Questions or requests: contact@jobrizzer.com.
2. What stays on your device
Your resume is parsed locally in your browser. The following is stored only on your device (in extension storage) and is not sent to us:
- Your uploaded resume and its text.
- The profile we build from it (name, contact, work history, education, skills).
- "Facts" you add yourself (e.g. "I live in Austin", "I want $200k base").
- Your own AI API key(s), if you choose to bring your own.
- Your preferences and sign-in token.
3. What leaves your device, and why
We try to keep your data on your device. Some things do leave it, only as needed:
- Counting free usage. To offer a free trial and prevent abuse, we send a one-way hash — a scrambled fingerprint, not your actual resume — so we can recognize repeat use without seeing your content.
- AI features. When you use an AI feature, the specific text that feature needs is sent through our service to an AI provider (currently Google's Gemini API) to generate the result:
- Autofill: the application's questions/field labels and the relevant facts from your profile (not your full resume each time).
- Generate profile from resume: your resume text, once, to extract your profile.
- Optimize resume for a job: your resume text and the job description you select.
- Your own API key (optional). If you configure your own AI key, those requests go directly from your browser to that provider and don't pass through us.
- Account email (optional). If you create an account or opt into product emails, we use your email address to sign you in and contact you.
We use a small number of trusted service providers (for AI processing, payments, and email) only to deliver these features. Each request is sent over HTTPS.
4. Analytics (website and extension)
On the public JobRizzer website, we use PostHog to understand aggregate traffic, page paths, referral sources, device/browser information, approximate location, and important product events such as clicking "Add to Chrome" or submitting the contact form. We configure PostHog without cookies, with session storage only and manual event tracking. We also use session replay on the public website to understand how pages are used and diagnose usability issues. PostHog masks input values by default, and we can block or mask page elements that render personal data. Session replay does not run in the extension.
In the extension, we also collect feature-usage telemetry to find bugs and improve the product: for example, that an autofill ran and whether it succeeded, how many fields were filled, settings changes, and subscription events. These events are tied to a random install ID or your account ID — never your name or email. They never include your resume, profile facts, application answers, AI prompts or responses, or the content of pages you visit; for job sites we record at most the site's hostname (for example, "boards.greenhouse.io"). You can turn extension telemetry off anytime in the extension's Dashboard → Privacy & Telemetry. Analytics never include your resume, profile, application answers, AI prompts, or extension storage data.
5. Accounts and payment
Creating an account and upgrading to Pro are optional. Payments are handled by our payment processor (Stripe) — we never see or store your full card details. We keep a record of your plan status so the extension knows whether Pro features are unlocked.
6. What we do NOT do
- We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data for others' marketing.
- We do not run advertising or build advertising profiles.
- We do not use your resume or application data to train AI models.
- We do not auto-submit job applications for you — you stay in control.
7. Permissions and why
- storage — to save your profile, resume, and settings locally on your device.
- scripting — to add the form-filling logic to a job page when you ask it to.
- offscreen — to parse PDF resumes and build your optimized resume in the background.
- alarms — to periodically refresh your sign-in/Pro status so it stays current even when no tab is open.
- host access (all sites) — because job applications live on thousands of different employer websites; the extension only acts when you click its buttons.
8. Deleting your data
- Locally: open the extension Dashboard and use Clear All Data to wipe everything stored in your browser.
- Account/server data: email contact@jobrizzer.com and we'll delete your account and associated records (some billing records may be retained where required by law).
9. Children
The extension is not intended for users under 16.
10. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date above and, for material changes, note it in the extension or by email.
